The services are
provided by the partners and other members of the primary health care team. Further
details of the members of the team and the services they provide are available
on this website. Under the terms of the NHS GMS contract, we offer all the 'core
services' that most GP practices offer. In addition we offer some 'Enhanced Services'
such as childhood immunisations, minor surgery, IUCD insertion and advanced access.
The practice also has approved training status, which means we are involved in
the training of both qualified doctors who want to become GPs and medical students.
Primary
Health Care Team
The primary health
care team works across both practices. In addition to the GP partners, the team
includes the following members:
GP Registrars
GP registrars are qualified doctors who are planning a career in general practice.
They will be attached to the practice for a period of 12 months and will hold
their own surgeries under the supervision of Drs Brown and Chin. When you ring for an appointment
you may be offered an appointment with one of the registrars. Sometimes the registrars
may ask to video your consultation. These videos will be used for training purposes
only and not for any other reason.
Foundation Year 2 GPs
Foundation year 2 GPs are qualified doctors who are planning a career in general practice. They will be attached to the practice for a period of four months and will hold their own surgeries under the supervision
of Drs Rayner and Ross. When you ring for an appointment you may be offered an appointment with one of the foundation year 2 GPs.
Practice Nurses
Vicki Thompson RGN
Margaret Robinson RGN
Jane Salisbury RGN
Practice nurses are employed by the practice to offer treatment at the surgery.
Community Nurses
Community or district nurses are employed by the Calderdale Primary Care Trust but are based at Northowram Surgery.
Community nurses provide home nursing for patients who are disabled or too ill to attend surgery. They also give help and advice to carers. They can be contacted on (01422) 205126. An answerphone is in operation if the nurses are out on visits.
Health Visitors
Health visitors Shirley Ibegbuna and Liz Allen offer support and advice to parents of young children. They can be contacted on (01422) 201344. An answerphone is in operation if the health visitors are out. Shelley
Radley, a community nursery nurse, supports the health visitors and school nurses in their roles working with children 0 - 8 years.
Medical Students
Medical students from Leeds University are attached to the practice and will sit in on consultations. They may sometimes be asked to help with medical procedures.
However, they will never work unsupervised and you can ask for them to leave the room if you would prefer to see the doctor in private.
Practice Manager
The practice manager, Diane Branford, is responsible for the smooth running of the practice. If you have a complaint or a suggestion to make about any aspect of the practice, please contact Diane in writing or by
phoning 206121.
Administrative Staff
The reception staff are there to help you access our services and are trained to help you get the best from them. Please feel free to ask them about any aspect of the services that we offer. You may also sometimes need
to speak to other members of the administrative staff. These include Judi Anderson (practice administrator), Sue Bardsley (office manager, Kos) Janet Greenwood (computer manager), Sue O'Grady and Debra Spencer (insurance clerks),
Karen Georgiou and Colleen Agnew (medical secretaries).
Reception and administration team members include, Diane Dixon, Margaret Dean, Sue Barber, Carol Rooks, Joanne Clee, June Hurl, Pat Southwart, Michele Randal, Debra Spencer, Carole Kirkbride, Gill Dale, Nicki Farrar and Sue O'Grady.
